Our Mission

Three Phases of Chiropractic Care

It is important to realize that since chiropractic strives to restore proper function of the central nervous system through correction of physiological and biomechanical imbalances, the process can take some time. Individual treatment plans are largely based on individual health goals and can range from a few visits to wellness care, which is life long. There are three main phases of chiropractic care and treatment:

1. Acute Care / Relief Care

Since most patients consult a chiropractor because of an ache or pain or other symptom, it is the goal in phase one to eliminate or reduce discomfort.

This phase can last from one week to one month, depending on the underlying cause of symptoms.

2. Rehabilitative / Corrective Care

This phase focuses on correction of the underlying imbalances and conditions that cause the symptoms. Corrective care involves restoring proper function of the central nervous system, strengthening muscles and improving overall neuro-musculoskeletal function. It is important to remember that many of the conditions for which people seek chiropractic care have developed over many years. Structural weaknesses and imbalances can be corrected but it often takes time. Care will be supplemented with rehabilitative exercises, nutrition and modification of daily habits.

Phase two can last from four to twelve months, depending on state of health and specific condition.

3. Wellness & Supportive Care

The wellness phase is designed to: maintain your improved health; encourage normal spinal function; prevent the return of the original condition; and catch small problems before they become serious. Each treatment schedule in the wellness phase is designed specifically for each individual and will vary according to the amount of physical, mental and chemical stress a person is under.

Good nutrition and exercise habits will be incorporated into this wellness care to promote vitality, endurance and the ability to enjoy and experience life in the optimal state of health.

This phase of care should become part of one’s lifestyle in their quest to live a full healthy life.
