1. Chiropractic Care
Spinal adjustments to restore optimal function of the spine and central nervous system which promotes overall health and wellness. Chiropractic care is also a very effective means of treating musculoskeletal injuries.
Three Phases of Chiropractic Care
It is important to realize that since chiropractic strives to restore proper function of the central nervous system through correction of physiological and biomechanical imbalances, the process can take some time. Individual treatment plans are largely based on individual health goals and can range from a few visits to wellness care, which is life long. There are three main phases of chiropractic care and treatment:
1. Acute Care / Relief Care
Since most patients consult a chiropractor because of an ache or pain or other symptom, it is the goal in phase one to eliminate or reduce discomfort. This phase can last from one week to one month, depending on the underlying cause of symptoms.
2. Rehabilitative / Corrective Care
This phase focuses on correction of the underlying imbalances and conditions that cause the symptoms. Corrective care involves restoring proper function of the central nervous system, strengthening muscles and improving overall neuro-musculoskeletal function.
It is important to remember that many of the conditions for which people seek chiropractic care have developed over many years. Structural weaknesses and imbalances can be corrected but it often takes time. Care will be supplemented with rehabilitative exercises, nutrition and modification of daily habits. Phase two can last from four to twelve months, depending on state of health and specific condition.
3. Wellness & Supportive Care
The wellness phase is designed to: maintain your improved health; encourage normal spinal function; prevent the return of the original condition; and catch small problems before they become serious. Each treatment schedule in the wellness phase is designed specifically for each individual and will vary according to the amount of physical, mental and chemical stress a person is under.
Good nutrition and exercise habits will be incorporated into this wellness care to promote vitality, endurance and the ability to enjoy and experience life in the optimal state of health.
This phase of care should become part of one's lifestyle in their quest to live a full healthy life.
A form of traditional Chinese medicine in which needles are inserted through the skin at specific points on the body. There is no injection of any substance and the treatment itself causes minimal discomfort. It is used to encourage natural healing, reduce or relieve pain and improve function of affected areas. It has been found to be helpful in the treatment of a broad range of conditions.
Your feet have a direct impact on the rest of your body. Like a foundation of a house, your feet support the weight of everything above them. Custom fit orthotics are designed specifically for each individual to help re-balance your feet, reducing pain and supporting the body's natural movements. The symptoms of poor foot mechanics include: localized facet pain; arch pain; bunions; hammer toes; heel pain; leg / knee pain and hip / back / neck pain.
4. Compression Stockings
Compression stocking prescriptions can be filled at our clinic. Many people can benefit from wearing compression stockings including those who experience: swollen feet, ankles and legs; tired, aching fatigued legs; venous disorders; plantar fasciitis; and heel pain. Compression hosiery is also excellent for pregnant women; those who are overweight; or those who stand or sit for prolonged periods.
We can order and provide both off the shelf or custom bracing for any body part. We are trained to prescribe an appropriate brace to help support or correct an injury or condition. We have access to many suppliers and can obtain the proper brace to aid in your recovery, or get you back in the game with the proper support.
6. Surface EMG
We provide each patient with a Surface EMG which is a non-invasive test that measures heat and electrical impulses on either side of the spine. This information helps us detect areas of disturbance in the central nervous system. It is also another way for us to document and monitor your results. It gives us a baseline to see how your nervous system is functioning and determines the amount and type of care you receive.
7. Active Release Therapy
ART is a patented state of the art tissue system / movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. The technique is designed to restore proper function and health of the soft tissue by physically reducing scar tissue that has built up in the soft tissues due to overuse. It also increases blood flow and oxygen flow to the affected tissues. It is used to treat many different issues including: headaches; back pain; carpel tunnel syndrome; shin splints; shoulder pain; sciatica; plantar fasciitis; knee problems and tennis elbow, to name a few.
8. Sports Injuries
We are trained to evaluate and treat most sports related injuries. Chiropractic is often used to improve muscle and joint conditioning which has a direct effect on athletic performance and injury prevention. Treatment works to improve biomechanical function and enhance overall conditioning, important in situations where there is continuous repetitive movement. Chiropractic care also helps athletes fine tune their muscles and joints for high level performance and may reduce long term wear and tear.
9. T.E.N.S. Units
We offer Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulators (or T.E.N.S.) for sale. Commonly called electric stim units, these units are small, portable devices used to reduce pain and discomfort associated with various conditions. Some insurance companies cover the cost of T.E.N.S. units.
10. Cervical Pillows
We carry orthopedic cervical pillows for the support of the normal curve in your neck while sleeping. These pillows support neutral posture in the neck, and can reduce neck pain, stiffness, headaches and promote better, more consistent sleep patterns. There are several different styles and sizes to choose from.
